LAXNORTHEAST conducts in-person amateur radio licensing exams
When: 2nd Saturday of every month , 11:15AM - 12:15PM
Where: Huntington Hospital, Conference Room 10 West Tower, 100 W California Blvd, Pasadena, CA.

ARRL Exam Fee
ARRL Exam Fee
$15 for adults age 18 and over
$5 for individuals under 18
This fee is paid at the time of the test via cash, Zelle or Paypal.
Multiple License Levels in One Session
If you pass the Technician exam, you may take the General exam at no additional charge during the same session.
If you pass the General, you may also take the Amateur Extra exam at no extra cost, again during the same session.
Retakes
You may retake any exam you fail as many times as you'd like during the same session. However, each retake counts as a new exam session and requires another test fee ($15 or $5, depending on age).
FCC Fee
After passing your license exam, you must pay a $35 fee to the FCC with in 10 days.
Your test results will be submitted to the ARRL, which uploads them to the FCC.
The FCC will then email you payment instructions using the address you provided at the test session.
Once the fee is paid, your callsign will be issued.

ARES LAX Northeast Operational Policy: Licensing & Training Support
ARES LAX Northeast Operational Policy: Licensing & Training Support
Scope & Mandate: ARES LAX Northeast prioritizes infrastructure readiness, multi-agency emergency exercises, digital networks, and regular credentialing. The district does not organize, sponsor, or instruct private or third-party introductory "hamcram" licensing classes.
Testing Services: The district maintains regular public Volunteer Examiner (VE) testing sessions (Huntington Hospital, 2nd Saturday of each month) utilizing ExamTools.
Self-Directed Education: Candidate preparation is strictly self-directed. Partner organizations (CERT groups, hospital staff, municipal teams) are directed to standard independent study platforms.
Mutual Aid & Facility Alignment: Auxiliary groups seeking communications integration are encouraged to coordinate through formal facility emergency management channels or hospital safety committees.
